So here I am, somewhere deep in the country, wearing this awesome, linen, knitted Ivana Helsinki dress, all covered in gold threads. Its heavy fabric makes it fall beautifully just a bit below the knee-my favorite skirt length. Tight enough to show I’m a woman, but loose enough to show I’m a lady…and so the story begins…a friend of mine told me the other day when I complemented her cool look “well, I’m going out with you tonight and I know you’ll get the style I’m wearing so I could wear what I want, but I don’t dress this way when I’m with other people because they won’t get me”. I was saddened to hear that. If there’s something I want you to take with you from my blog, is that you should be as wild as your heart wants you to be, because those are the only moments when you’re truly alive.
When I heard what my friend told me, I decided to take the experiment to the next level. To see just how harsh can judgement based on difference in fashion views be, I decided to go deep into the wilderness of our country, where saying that fashion is far from being current would be an understatement, flaunting some serious personal style. So, I decided to take a turn due north and pick an outfit from the Finnish brand I just love, Ivana Helsinki. Actually, it’s the only fashion house that has been approved by the Paris and New York Fashion Week catwalks. I chose to wear this fascinating, gold-knitted dress from their new Amber, Shells and Stones collection. No straps, layers and qualitative Finnish knit altogether make for a very rich look. I felt very feminine and playful wearing it. True of the brand and of this dress in particular is that you need very few accessories to make the street your runway. I wandered off. Did people stare? Yes! Did they admire? I’m sure! This mix of Slavic melancholy and Scandinavian mood relate to the eye and to the soul.
My message here is, wear what your soul finds beautiful, wear something that shouts “That’s me!”, wear the expression of yourselves and do it with confidence…people will get wild about you, trust me! They will look at you with admiration, just as the people I encountered on my road trip looked at this fabulous-looking dress that was completely out of their world!
