There’s nothing like staying at home for real comfort. I disconnect from the world to connect to my inner self. Like an artist on stage, I give it all to the audience. People inspire me and drain me at the same time. I need the curtain to fall every night. I close the door to my house from inside, to recover. To get reassurance, I look in the mirror.  Continue Reading

Overalls have always been one of my favorite fashion items since I was a little girl. Childish and sexy is a great combination for a woman to wear on any given day. What is truly amazing about overalls though, is their history in fashion.

Is matching items to get the perfect outfit so different from matching men and women to get the perfect couple? Aren’t similar principles applied to both? We know that an all black is always a success, that a an evening dress calls for elegant heels, a dull outfit would be remembered if accessorized properly, leather goes perfectly with organic textile and it goes on and on.

I always felt more comfortable being a little underdressed than a little overdressed. Overdressing is like saying “I love you” on a second date. It turns something otherwise wonderful into the perfect tool for scarying everyone away. People will watch as you hit ground ridiculous in an ill-conceived chase for attention/affection. Being underdressed on the other hand says “I actually had something else in my plans for tonight, but I was too flattered at how much you all wanted to see me, as not to drop by”.

Fashion is my form of art and each piece I wear is my masterpiece. This time I had the honor of entering the magic of the Mexican world, as I’m doing this amazing collaboration with Dressaraz. Their business is based in the Netherlands, but the fashion they bring to the continent is traditional, authentic Mexican wear that is hand-embroidered by artisans.

I’ve always been into leaving my home in whatever I was wearing. Actually my disregard for public opinion reached such heights that I went to university exams and restaurants in pajamas. I’ve always been naturally free of the gravity of what people think, I made no effort to be like this. Being in favor of breaking the rules, I was really excited to see designers coming up with these gorgeous pajama sets designed for outwear. I was immediately attracted to the trend. Now, on how I think it’s best to wear it:

What is true of fashion generally and of sunglasses specifically is that whatever looks best on you is what you should wear this season. If something is trending right now but it doesn’t feel or look right on you, forget about it. However, there are certain styles of shades that the designers have opted for on the S 2018 runways. Now, you will notice that some of these trends are not meant to protect your eyes against sunlight and will only serve for aesthetic purposes. Still, some researchers say that sunlight is actually beneficial to the eyes and it’s only a matter of whether the sun rays disturb your comfort or not. So, with all of that in mind, let’s take a look at what’s trending right now in the shades department: Continue Reading

Coco Chanel once discovered that the sexiest in a woman is the man inside her (no, not that you naughty kids!). It’s the Yin and Yang within, the opposites that are complimentary and it is actually the masculine which emphasizes the feminine in a woman. So, Coco’s fashion was often times inspired from what men around her wore, and such is the case of the now legendary tweed jacket. Continue Reading

Velvet was once royal and it hasn’t forgotten about that. Even though the industrial revolution has made velvet affordable to the masses, it still remains a fabric that stands out from the crowd. Gordon Richardson, creative director of Topman, explains the fabric’s appeal: “Velvet is one of those perennial classics that are faintly nostalgic, reminiscent of simpler, noble times,” he says. “And it is particularly good at taking on colour due to its sumptuous depth of pile.” And indeed, some of the richest colors can be produced when dying velvet. Although velvet is a lavish fabric, you can easily wear an all-velvet outfit and still not look as if you’re exhibiting this year’s high-end upholstery fabrics. “There is an overriding sex appeal to velvet,” says Tony Glenville, creative director at London College of Fashion. It’s so wonderfully easy to do a photoshoot on a snowy day. Any look goes. As a kid, I remember, I used to love snow, all of us did. It was like snow carried happiness in itself. It’s one of the few absolutely beautiful things that do not carry a battlefield within. It’s neutral. It makes no demands on us whatsoever. It’s just there. It erases everything superfluous. There are no roads. No choices to make. Continue Reading
