Coco Chanel once discovered that the sexiest in a woman is the man inside her (no, not that you naughty kids!). It’s the Yin and Yang within, the opposites that are complimentary and it is actually the masculine which emphasizes the feminine in a woman. So, Coco’s fashion was often times inspired from what men around her wore, and such is the case of the now legendary tweed jacket. Continue Reading

So here I am, somewhere deep in the country, wearing this awesome, linen, knitted Ivana Helsinki dress, all covered in gold threads. Its heavy fabric makes it fall beautifully just a bit below the knee-my favorite skirt length. Tight enough to show I’m a woman, but loose enough to show I’m a lady…and so the story begins…a friend of mine told me the other day when I complemented her cool look “well, I’m going out with you tonight and I know you’ll get the style I’m wearing so I could wear what I want, but I don’t dress this way when I’m with other people because they won’t get me”. I was saddened to hear that. If there’s something I want you to take with you from my blog, is that you should be as wild as your heart wants you to be, because those are the only moments when you’re truly alive. It’s so wonderfully easy to do a photoshoot on a snowy day. Any look goes. As a kid, I remember, I used to love snow, all of us did. It was like snow carried happiness in itself. It’s one of the few absolutely beautiful things that do not carry a battlefield within. It’s neutral. It makes no demands on us whatsoever. It’s just there. It erases everything superfluous. There are no roads. No choices to make. Continue Reading

I find that most often passion is the art of weak men. Strong men, as strange as it may appear, know how to love but they know little about passion. That is why beautiful women who are, by nature awarded the possibility of choice, are found next to weak men. This raises a question mark in everyone’s mind, as it would seem natural that they would cast their choice on the strong men. Continue Reading

It would seem silly to have only one day a year to celebrate what was chanted by artists to be the meaning of life. Still, mankind has managed to pick a day out of all 365 and say “this is the day when you’ll speak about your feelings for one another”. That which cures what medicine cannot, seems to be deemed unimportant too often these days. One thing I caught myself doing throughout life is watching other people living their lives. It beats any movie and unfortunately, what I often notice is that they think there are better things to do with one’s life than love. Continue Reading

I want people to be afraid of the women I dress.

Alexander McQueen

This is how the late genius regarded women’s fashion. He did not like to see women naïve and fragile. He wanted empowerment, strength and dignity for them. McQueen wanted to bring out the darker sides, the sinister, the macabre and grotesque, the hidden sexuality. He did not play by the rules and as for any true artist, his creations have been for him, a means to escape reality. This is the fashion designer whose first collection was inspired from Jack the Ripper’s story. His jewelry has this power flow taking you by storm from the first glance. It has been my choice from a myriad of other designers’ jewelry. He has a beautiful collection made of brass and pyrite stones. Continue Reading

I love being far from home, and I take every opportunity to do so. This time, I traveled to another country to get a puppy I fell in love with while at a dog exhibition in my home-town. It’s a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, the sweetest little thing. But he’ll be the topic of a different post as soon as I find a name for him. Continue Reading

My cat, Rafael, chose my outfit for today…and I think he did a really good job  It turns out he has quite a sense of fashion that I think he developed during the years when he assisted my dressing-up process by climbing into the closet and making himself cozy under my clothes. So today I decided to follow his steps and see how good he really is at picking outfits.  Continue Reading

My dearest,

while I was focusing on yet a different look and fashion post respectively, life was happening. My life, as well as life around me. So I found myself in the position of starting with a dignified letter addressed to a person that I still hold dear and at the same time I hope that this will serve as support to all those out there who are overcoming a recent past. Fashion and life are all too entwined as to be able to always draw the clear line between the two. So, bear with me through the sentimental part, and I hope you enjoy the fashion part of the post. XOXO Continue Reading
