It might not be groundbreaking, but floral fabric for spring is still one of the most popular choices. It’s on the runways every year and it perfectly embraces the #summermood. Elegance, feminity and simplicity define the floral print spring dress (similar here and here). It’s light and sober at the same time, which makes it good for all occasions. Continue Reading

Coco Chanel once discovered that the sexiest in a woman is the man inside her (no, not that you naughty kids!). It’s the Yin and Yang within, the opposites that are complimentary and it is actually the masculine which emphasizes the feminine in a woman. So, Coco’s fashion was often times inspired from what men around her wore, and such is the case of the now legendary tweed jacket. Continue Reading

Velvet was once royal and it hasn’t forgotten about that. Even though the industrial revolution has made velvet affordable to the masses, it still remains a fabric that stands out from the crowd. Gordon Richardson, creative director of Topman, explains the fabric’s appeal: “Velvet is one of those perennial classics that are faintly nostalgic, reminiscent of simpler, noble times,” he says. “And it is particularly good at taking on colour due to its sumptuous depth of pile.” And indeed, some of the richest colors can be produced when dying velvet. Although velvet is a lavish fabric, you can easily wear an all-velvet outfit and still not look as if you’re exhibiting this year’s high-end upholstery fabrics. “There is an overriding sex appeal to velvet,” says Tony Glenville, creative director at London College of Fashion. So here I am, somewhere deep in the country, wearing this awesome, linen, knitted Ivana Helsinki dress, all covered in gold threads. Its heavy fabric makes it fall beautifully just a bit below the knee-my favorite skirt length. Tight enough to show I’m a woman, but loose enough to show I’m a lady…and so the story begins…a friend of mine told me the other day when I complemented her cool look “well, I’m going out with you tonight and I know you’ll get the style I’m wearing so I could wear what I want, but I don’t dress this way when I’m with other people because they won’t get me”. I was saddened to hear that. If there’s something I want you to take with you from my blog, is that you should be as wild as your heart wants you to be, because those are the only moments when you’re truly alive. I love being far from home, and I take every opportunity to do so. This time, I traveled to another country to get a puppy I fell in love with while at a dog exhibition in my home-town. It’s a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, the sweetest little thing. But he’ll be the topic of a different post as soon as I find a name for him. Continue Reading

Is it absolutely necessary that a woman should be all sparkly, covered in lace and sequin in order to be a queen on New Year’s Eve celebration? Even though many trendsetters tend to believe that flashy fabrics will make a woman more feminine and attractive, it seems to me that it only leads to a competition on who’s reflecting more light on that evening. Truth be told, there is some weight to the term. French women do tend to have a singular effortlessness and a cool, inherent sense of chic. Although my heart wasn’t set on French girl style when I was coming up with this look, what I saw in the mirror was a kind of Coco Mademoiselle undone chic. What I’ve got working here is an eclectic mix between a lens-worthy dress I fell in love with the moment I saw it on the mannequin, white wedges and the season trend-fishnets. Continue Reading
