I want people to be afraid of the women I dress.
This is how the late genius regarded women’s fashion. He did not like to see women naïve and fragile. He wanted empowerment, strength and dignity for them. McQueen wanted to bring out the darker sides, the sinister, the macabre and grotesque, the hidden sexuality. He did not play by the rules and as for any true artist, his creations have been for him, a means to escape reality. This is the fashion designer whose first collection was inspired from Jack the Ripper’s story. His jewelry has this power flow taking you by storm from the first glance. It has been my choice from a myriad of other designers’ jewelry. He has a beautiful collection made of brass and pyrite stones.
What is pyrite, you ask? It’s a mineral, an iron sulfide to be specific. Pyrite’s metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool’s gold. Pyrite shields, protects, and even helps you make thoughtful business decisions. I’ve read somewhere that this stone kinda acts like a life coach that encourages you to do more than just aspire for greatness but actually get things done. Pyrite crystal properties protect the environment from negative energy, leaving your space free of bad vibes. In fact, it’s one of the best Feng Shui crystals for encouraging money and abundance.
Let’s start with what I managed to get so far:
The blue Alexander McQueen stone double tiered ring: Exquisitely executed thanks to Italian craftsmanship, it’s is made from brass and has a double tiered band and light blue pyrite stone that is set within a frame carved to look like the rocky surfaces from which the stone is sourced.
Alexander McQueen cuff bracelet. Showcasing the label’s penchant for dark romance, this cuff bracelet features a double-tiered ring structure with an open back section that makes for an easy slip-on style. Adorned with a large hand-cut pyrite stone framed by a metal cluster that closely resembles pyrite, its effect is unexpectedly elegant, particularly when paired with silk evening wear or crisp cottons.
A single hoop earring with pyrite. I don’t know about you guys but I absolutely love the single earring trend. I think it’s a bold statement that not everyone by far is willing to make. Still, this earring is absolutely unique, both feminine and masculine, yin and yang in one piece. A lone earring has the ability to make anyone look cool but it can be a difficult-to-master trend. Nobody wants to channel Captain Jack Sparrow. Still, this piece’s appeal is in its grandeur. Cool and elegant at the same time, I pulled it off while at a meeting with our country President, so I think you’re pretty much safe wearing it anywhere. McQueen’s flair for the dramatic shines through this piece of jewelry. Very tough, I think it would go perfectly with an evening gown or with a pair of simple ensembles.
What I still hope to get:
A double row pyrite choker. Bold and dramatic, it is perfectly embedded in the collection. It will match a brazen evening gown or a simple turtle neck. If you’re into wearing simple outfits, but you’re after being unforgettable, this jewelry will do the trick.
When it comes to jewelry, I’m after the big pieces. Miniature pieces never attracted me, although I acknowledge their beauty. I do believe in the power of stones, and if you’re like me in this department, pyrite is definitely something you’ll want to wear.
Following the wise words of self-help guru and philosopher Wayne Dyer, “Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.” Include Pyrite in your gem collection and tune into a higher vibration, the simple formula for happiness and success.
And if there are any men amongst you, my dear readers, well I can tell you that if you show up on Saint Valentine’s bearing a gift like this, your lady is going to love you like she does in those lacy things you love so much.
